Jeff Kramer worked as a newspaper reporter and humor columnist for 35 years, winning numerous awards you've probably never heard of. His stops have included the Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Orange County Register, The Post-Standard in Syracuse, N.Y. and the MetroWest News (then the Middlesex News) based in Framingham, Mass.
He also has written and produced three comedic plays in Syracuse. A Seattle native and graduate of Western Washington University, Kramer lives in Syracuse with his wife, Leigh. The couple have two daughters, Miranda and Lily, and one rescue dog, Greg.
Kramer, who is referring to himself here in the third person without really understanding why, made news in 1992 when he was shot three times covering the Los Angeles Riots for the Globe. After a speedy recovery, Kramer and his retained bullet returned to an even more dangerous beat -- humor writing.
Kramer was a stalwart lineman on Western's fabled 1981 0-10 football team. He credits the experience with teaching him a priceless life lesson: When you get knocked down, it's okay to just lie there to avoid further injury.
